You made me cry! My husband has had to deal with this issue himself. Together we've delt with the pain that comes along with it. Only in our case in the US, the courts agreed with us. Not because the donor of genetic code was an abusive, pot head, drug addict, a-hole. Rather, it was because he failed to pay support OR visit his child OR contact his child in any way for several years. Now, she has a real father and the old one has no right to interfere in our happy life together. I feel immensly for your situation, and I hope that Australia has similar laws, and that given time, he will lose interest and you will be able to do the same thing. Just because a man can eject some sperm does not a father make. I grew up with 2 dads - my father (the biological one) and my dad (who I guess is "technically" my stepdad. And for most of my life it was just my dad. Now that I am an adult my father and I are starting to have more of a relationship, but even he knows the score - my dad is my dad and he is nothing more than the man that provided the seed for my conception.
